Greenify works differently than Titanium Backup’s freeze feature, and any task killer apps. Greenify will hibernate various apps that run in the background using precious system resources. Greenify for Android, introduces save-state style hibernating for various apps. In most cases, you either leave the guilty apps installed, or you get rid of them to conserve resources. Force stopping them through the Android settings menu doesn’t always work, and if you freeze them you lose all functionality until they’re defrosted again. Some of them drain the battery faster even when they’re not doing anything. The need to manually hibernate comes due to privilege restriction because the device is not rooted.Ī shortcut (widget) called " Hibernate All" can be created from main menu in Greenify to manually hibernate the apps on non-rooted devices. With v2.0 a new mode “ non-root working mode” is included to manually hibernate the apps.
