While not technically buggy, other elements led to its downfall. Originally, three volumes were planned, but II and III were cancelled after the negative reception for volume I. It was so awful, the studio offered refunds to all those who bought it, and discontinued sale of the game. However, critics were not so kind with its sequel, which does a terrible injustice to the source material that lent to its creation. The original Afro Samurai game, based on the manga, received moderate reviews. It’s a joke, at the expense of the player. The game plays like a parody of itself, yet takes itself too seriously. Past the front page, stamped with the latest releases of 2017, beyond the articles of new cinema, and even further than reviews of this decade's hottest music, there is a list of the worst-rated games on Metacritic of all time. As one of the most popular gaming review sites, Metacritic uses aggregate data to generate a well-rounded, accurate score for all types of entertainment media. We crawled deep into the catacombs of Metacritic, passing by fallen ones such as Final Fantasy XIV (1.0) and No Man’s Sky.
While these games are definitely not worth playing, they are worth exploring, if only to serve as a warning to future gamers. These games rob the player of that sweet, sacred moment, when they first launch into the menu and play for the first time. And a few games are so horrible, you wonder how they escaped that dark cloud of unimaginative storytelling and clunky gameplay plaguing the game studio that created it. Sadly though, not every game is beautiful and perfect. The joy that comes with unwrapping a crisp, sealed case, opening a fresh cartridge, or simply watching gameplay videos while the game downloads on Steam. Every gamer has felt the rush of getting a new game.
